Crazy Monkey Spin (Digital Chocolate)

Crazy Monkey Spin puts you in control of a monkey on a mission to rescue his fellow animals. The full version of the game features three game modes. The two secondary modes are very similar to the main mode. They involve gathering items under time limits and add little depth. Therefore, I will focus on the main quest in this review. Does this application live up to its title of crazy fun?The main quest features cut scenes that open up the story line. Something mysterious is locking up all the other animals on an island. It is your job to free them. There is a map with five different areas to explore. As you progress through the levels you will open up new environments. You will also open up new techniques that take the form of power hats.The game primarily utilizes swiping to maneuver your monkey’s jumps. The controls are really my only complaint. The game requires you to swipe on top of the monkey. This covers up the game screen. The developers should update the game to allow you to make directional swipes – anywhere on the screen. I also found my swipes were not always registered.In the early levels this is not an issue but when the deadly spikes start appearing it becomes upsetting. The game only allows two jumps before you hit another peg. It can be frustrating to have to start a long climb all over because you missed a jump and fell all the way to the bottom.The graphics in this game are clean and crisp. The levels and characters are very cartoon like and appear as if they are targeted towards children. The game is rated for 4+ and the dialogue and storyline seems to appeal to the 15 and younger crowd.
